William Maguire stays active, writing articles and speaking in the local community. Here are a few highlights:
April 11, 2011: William Maguire attended the all day continuing legal education seminar entitled, "The Trademark Office Comes to California", sponsored by the State Bar of California, at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
January 20, 2011: William Maguire published an article entitled, THIS CD IS FOR RESALE!, in the Los Angeles Daily Journal discussing the "first sale" doctrine of the U.S. Copyright Statute.
December 9, 2010: William Maguire published an article entitled, "NAKED LICENSING: The Smell of Fear", in the Los Angeles Daily Journal discussing the risks associated with trademark licensing agreements that do not provide for inspection rights, quality review, etc. August 5, 2010: William Maguire published an article entitled, "A Primer on the Selection And Clearance of Trademarks", in the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
July 22 - 25, 2010: William Maguire attended the annual San Diego Comic-Con where he met with clients and colleagues in the comic book business and related entertainment industry.
May 22 - 26, 2010: Will Maguire attended the 132nd Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA), held in Boston, MA, where he met with foreign trademark counsel, attended lectures on trademark law and visited Fenway Park, the JFK Museum, and Regina's Pizzeria in the North End... which might just be the best pizza anywhere. He has attended the INTA Annual Meetings since 1993 and has participated and been active on several INTA committees, including the USPTO Practices, Anti-Counterfeiting, and Membership committees. October 2009: William Maguire began his tenth year as a volunteer tutor at the Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA), in Mar Vista, CA where he tutors middle school and high school students in NYA's after school program for at risk youth.

May 16 - 21, 2009: William Maguire attended the 131st Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association, held in Seattle, WA. While there he met with foreign trademark counsel, attended lectures on trademark law, discovered TOP POT Doughnuts and visited the headquarters of Starbucks Coffee Company where he sampled freshly brewed coffee and tried the new Starbucks ice cream flavors. March 6, 2009: William Maguire attended a Continuing Legal Education seminar entitled, "Intellectual Property Issues in Sports" at Loyola Law Scool in Los Angeles, CA. February, 2009: William Maguire and LevelPath.org provided four youth swimming scholarships with the Culver City Swim Club, a division of Southern California Aquatics. August, 2008: William Maguire and LevelPath.org provided a scholarship for an inner city child to attend Summer Camp sponsored by "A Chance For Children Foundation" on the campus of Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.
January 29, 2008: William Maguire attended the SIA '08 SnowSports trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
December 7, 2007, 2008: William Maguire authored an article entitled, "Interactive Trademarks 2.0" which was published by the State Bar of California in its solo and small firm magazine, BIG NEWS, Nov./Dec. 2007. May 24, 2007: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the UCLA Extension Paralegal Certificate Program's "Legal Research" class, where he spoke on the basics of trademark and copyright protection and the legal research thereof. April 20−May 3, 2007: William Maguire attended the 129th Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA), held in Chicago, Illinois. March 12, 2007: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the UCLA Extension course entitled, "Licensing and Merchandising for Film, TV, and New Media", where he spoke on the subject of "The Legal Side of Licensing: Trademarks & Copyrights."
May 2, 2006: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the Hollywood Music Institute's music business college where he discussed trademark and copyright protection with respect to music properties. May 23, 2005: William Maguire was a guest speaker-panelist at UCLA during a program entitled, "LAW Actually", sponsored by the University's Pre-Law Chapter of the "Phi Alpha Delta" Law Fraternity, and where Mr. Maguire discussed the practice of intellectual property law with students. May 14-18, 2005: William Maguire attended the 127th Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA), which he has attended regularly since 1993. He has also been active on several INTA committees, including the USPTO Practices, Anti-Counterfeiting, and Membership committees. March 1, 2005: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the UCLA Extension course entitled, "Licensing and Merchandising for Film, TV, and New Media", where he spoke on the subject of "The Legal Side of Licensing: Trademarks & Copyrights." May 1-5, 2004: William Maguire attended the 126th Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA), which he has attended regularly since 1993. He has also been active on several INTA committees, including the USPTO Practices, Anti-Counterfeiting, and Membership committees. March 31, 2004: William Maguire attended an all day Continuing Legal Education seminar, entitled "The Trademark Office Comes to California", hosted by the State Bar of California Intellectual Property section, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. March 5, 2004: William Maguire participated as a speaker and led a breakout session focusing on the licensing of Entertainment and Merchandising properties at UCLA at a seminar entitled, "Anatomy of a License Agreement", sponsored by the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Assn. (LIMA), Aspen Publishers, and the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Assn. (LAIPLA). February 24, 2004: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the UCLA Extension course entitled, "Licensing and Merchandising for Film, TV, and New Media", where he spoke on the subject of "The Legal Side of Licensing: Trademarks & Copyrights." February, 2004 - William Maguire and LevelPath.org funded a youth swimming scholarship with the Southern California Aquatics (SCAQ) swim team. January 2004: William Maguire's article entitled, "Super Heroes Need Protection Too!" was published by the Center for Intellectual Property at the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, IL., in its magazine, NEWS SOURCE, Vol. V, No. 1. William Maguire's article entitled, "Famous Sports Trademarks" was published by the State Bar of California in its magazine, BIG NEWS, Vol. 9, Issue 5.
William Maguire and LevelPath.Org funded and sponsored the Spring/Summer 2004 Chess Club at the Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA) in Mar Vista, California. Nov. 4, 2003: William Maguire was a guest speaker at the Hollywood Music Institute's music business college where he discussed trademark and copyright protection with respect to music properties. March 7, 2003: The Neighborhood Youth Assn. (NYA) of Mar Vista, CA, recognized William Maguire with its 2003 Community Service Award at its 20th Anniversary celebration held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Mr. Maguire has volunteered as a tutor and mentor to students at NYA once a week for the past three plus years, working with low income youths from Venice and Mar Vista. He also sponsors the NYA Chess Club and has funded three scholarships for NYA students.
